Hands-down the best by far has been Willie Ratliff and his company All Things New LLC, recently converting a garage to an office / studio. He, his crew, and all subcontractors did exceptional work, clearly enjoying doing a good job and taking pride in it. Willie himself is an excellent listener, always open to questions, suggestions, and reasonable changes, gives solid advice. He really wants a happy customer. He and all of his crew were professional, personable, and easy to have around, and the problems that arise in any project were handled quickly and gracefully. My wife and I actually missed having them here after they finished. When the work started, they were on it five days a week, showing up punctually and staying with it through the day: no other jobs interfered. Then they cleaned up really well every day. I also like that they use high quality tools and know how to operate them. The project was completed very close to schedule, running only one day over, and the cost was exactly as shown on the estimates. All changes made during the project were noted and recorded on the day they happened, and all invoices and receipts were emailed punctually. All money dealings were straightforward and negotiated in good faith without anything odd. Willie Ratliff is an ethical man. He and all of his workers are skilled, friendly, polite, fun and hard-working...truly exceeding expectations. As long as I'm living in or near Baltimore, I will hire no one else."

"If there was any knock of the install it was the aftermath. Empire sent two gentlemen out for the install. They did an outstanding job. The work consisted of wood flooring on a staircase to the second floor then the hallway and into an office. I had to let them use my garage to do the cutting because it was storming outside. "We hired a company to install flooring and re-finish the remaining floors to match. We chose the original company because of a few positive recommendations and they were significantly cheaper. We were told the job could be completed in 4 to 5 days, max. However, it took over two weeks and we were extremely disappointed when we saw the final product. The staining was inconsistent (some areas were not properly sanded, edges, corners and under counters) and there was so much pitting that it felt like sandpaper. Plus, there was prominent chatter throughout all the finished flooring. We spoke to several additional companies and Brendan responded immediately and came out to assess the flooring. Brendan meticulously cataloged the problems, which were more than we had even noticed, and communicated with us in a refreshingly direct and straightforward manner. Brendan also helped us determine that our previous contractor was not even a licensed professional and showed us what is required by the state to perform home improvement contracted work. He was professional and very experienced in repairing floors from botched jobs. We hired Flaherty Floors to redo our floors a second time. Brendan told us it would take 4 days to complete and fixed molding and replaced multiple boards the prior company had damaged. They showed up every day they stated they would (unlike the first company) and they were extremely professional, hung plastic and cleaned and vacuumed meticulously. Our house was cleaner after they worked than before they started. We would re-hire him and his company without hesitation and recommend him to anyone. He sent us pictures of the flooring as he was progressing and listened to all of our concerns. Brendan is extremely knowledgeable and his pricing is still lower than many competitors. We would feel comfortable with him and his crew doing any work in our home."
